Al-Zawahiri is believed to now serve as an advisor and doctor to Usama Bin Laden and is currently thought to be in Afghanistan. |

DBP and the Diliman Preparatory School (DPS) recently signed a P30 million loan agreement to partially finance the construction of a new high school building worth P62 million. [BUILDING KO DATI] hehe
According to Senior Assistant Vice President Ma. Teresita S. Tolentino, Regional Management Office (RMO)-National Capital Region (NCR) Head, the project is being undertaken to accommodate the projected increase in the number of students enrolling in the institution. The four-storey structure will have 30 classrooms equipped with upgraded computer and science laboratories.
Established in 1969, Diliman Preparatory School is now one of the biggest private schools in Quezon City area offering elementary and secondary level education. The school campus is situated on an 8,863 sq.m. property along Commonwealth Ave. near Ever Gotesco mall, and boasts off 103 classrooms, four libraries, four computer rooms, a covered gym, and an open court. The school's management team is composed of University of the Philippines (UP) alumni and many of its 150 faculty members were recruited from the UP and the Philippine Normal University.
The school's growth and expansion in the early 1990s was assisted by DBP as financial partner through a series of loans totaling P75 million with each approval amounting to P25 million to fund various building construction projects.
Signatories to the loan contract were DPS President Emalina A. Flores, DPS Treasurer Alma G. Jocson and SAVP Tolentino.

Diliman Prep Adopts Web-based School System
The Diliman Preparatory School has deployed Mozcom’s web-based school automation system. The system uses barcoded student ID’s to provide a wide-range of services.
 When a student enters the school gate, their ID’s will get scanned and their picture displayed on a monitor screen. This allows the school to increase their security. The time-in and time-out of faculty and admin staff is also tracked by the system for payroll purposes.
The ID doubles as a library card. Mozcom provided the school with a complete library automation system that facilitates borrowing and return of books, as well as, keeping track of book inventories supporting the industry-standard MARC format.
The library is now equipped with several Linux-based diskless workstations which students can use for their research, or for searching the online card catalog. An automated clinic system keeps track of the medical history of the students, along with their visits to the clinic.
Diliman Preparatory School has over 4,000 students, and is connected to the Internet via two (2) x 512kbps SDSL links with Mozcom.
Mozcom offers the School ID Automation System as a turnkey solution. It can work with other technologies such as smart cards and biometrics.

| Hagia Sophia
The Church of the Holy Wisdom, commonly known as Hagia Sophia in English, is a former Greek Orthodox church converted to a mosque, now a museum, in Istanbul (Constantinople). It is universally acknowledged as one of the great buildings of the world.
The name comes from the Greek name Áãßá Óïößá. It is also known as Sancta Sophia in Latin and Ayasofya in Turkish. (The Turkish and Greek pronounciations sound like a-YEE-ah so-FEE-ah.)

CONSTRUCTION
Nothing remains of the first church that was built on the same site during the 4th century. Following the destruction of the first church, a second was built by Constantius, the son of Constantine the Great, but was burned down during the Nika riots of 532. The building was rebuilt under the personal supervision of emperor Justinian I and rededicated on December 27, 537.

For architects Justinian chose Isidore of Miletus and Anthemius of Tralles, professors of geometry at the University of Constantinople; Anthemius, however, died within the first year. The construction is described in Procopius' On Buildings (De Aedificiis). The Byzantine poet Paulus the Silentiary composed an extant poetic ekphrasis, probably for the rededication of 563, which followed the collapse of the main dome.
Hagia Sophia is one of the greatest surviving examples of Byzantine architecture. Of great artistic value was its decorated interior with mosaics and marble pillars and coverings. The temple itself was so richly and artistically decorated that Justinian is said to have proclaimed "Solomon, I have surpassed thee!" (ÍåíßêçêÜ óå Óïëïìþí). Justinian himself had overseen the completion of the greatest cathedral ever built up to that time, and it was to remain the largest cathedral for 1,000 years up until the completion of the cathedral in Seville. It is today the fourth largest cathedral in the world (by size, not height)
